Praxis Makes Perfect
Students who have graduated from high school and want to increase their language levels to enter post secondary institutions or find work in Canada, now have two residential English immersion programs available to them in our Craik facility. There are limited spaces available in both programs in order to maximize learning.
Our Praxis Makes Perfect program provides English language instruction to high school graduates with limited English proficiency. Students will increase their ability to communicate in English while learning about Canada.
Communication skills will be improved through grammar, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, reading/writing and conversational activities, with a focus on topics such as culture, systems, customs, food, entertainment, business, health, to name a few. Knowledge gained while learning English will easily transfer into school, work, home and social situations.
Our language programs are embedded in Canadian culture, making it easier to be part of a school, work or social experience.
The course is 12 weeks in length and can be taken more than once. Students will be tested for language levels and material adapted to meet their language needs.
Our Praxis Preparation program is a 10 month residential program for 19-21 year olds who want to improve their English, learn about Canadian culture, explore their career options, and upgrade or take high school courses needed to enter a post secondary program or find work.
Students will complete a language assessment and work with a career counsellor to explore options they are interested in and the subsequent education or training needed to pursue those careers.
In addition to the communication skills in the Praxis Makes Perfect program, voluntary work placements will help prepare them for Canadian work places and immerse them in Canadian culture. They will also develop workplace and personal relationships which are necessary for future career opportunities.
Social activities and excursions will round out the experience.
Programming is individualized to suit the needs of each student and is an excellent choice for international students or Canadian students who want to explore career options in focused manner and build international friendships.
