Praxis Makes Perfect

Young people who wish to improve their English before entering a public high school or post secondary institution or before finding work in Canada, we have two residential English immersion programs available to them in our Craik facility.  There are limited spaces available in both programs in order to maximize learning.

Our Praxis Makes Perfect program provides English language instruction to youth with limited English proficiency. Participants will increase their ability to communicate in English while learning about Canada.

Communication skills will be improved through grammar, vocabulary, listening, pronunciation, reading/writing and conversational activities, with a focus on topics such as culture, systems, customs, food, entertainment, business, health, to name a few. Knowledge gained while learning English will easily transfer into school, work, home and social situations.

Our language programs are embedded in Canadian culture, making it easier to be part of a future school, work or social experience.

The course is 12 weeks in length and can be taken more than once.  Participants will be tested for language levels and material adapted to meet their language needs.

Our Praxis Preparation program is a 10 month residential program for 19-21 year olds who want to improve their English, learn about Canadian culture, explore their career options, and upgrade their schooling or find work.

Students will complete a language assessment, explore career options they are interested in and the subsequent education or training needed to pursue those careers.

In addition to communication skills, short voluntary opportunities will help prepare them for Canadian work places and immerse them in Canadian culture.  They will also develop workplace and personal relationships necessary for future career opportunities. Social activities and excursions will round out the experience.

Programming is individualized to suit the needs of each student and is an excellent choice for international students or Canadian students who want to explore career options in a focused manner and build international friendships.
